Sensorimotor

In our bodies, in this moment, there lives the seed impulses of the change and spiritual growth we seek, and to awaken them we must bring our awareness into the body, into the here and now.

Pat Ogden

Sensorimotor psychotherapy supports embodiment and healing from trauma and attachment wounding.

You will cultivate the practice of slowing down to explore and witness with mindful awareness your embodied experience. Through embodied awareness, in connection with another, you will begin to be aware of the unconscious and unresolved patterns living in the body-mind that impact healthy relationships and being fully aligned with the open heart. With compassionate awareness you can begin to heal, resolve and feel more empowered in how you choose to relate to yourself, others and the earth.

Our practice together will be somatic-centered, collaborative, relational, experiential and sacred. Experiential means we will explore and discover with mindful and compassionate attention your internal resources and what is keeping you from thriving. Integrate parts of the self that have been left and stuck in the past into the adult self now. Liberate unresolved trauma stuck in the body, repair and resource the attachment wounding that may be carried through generations impacting beliefs about yourself, others and the world. Transform patterns of trans-generational pain and grief, into resiliency, gifts, wellness and well-being in the present. Sacred means we will honor that the soul and spirit is not separate from our healing, growth and innate wholeness.

I work from the principles from Sensorimotor which are interwoven through the therapy process:

  • Organicity: The inherent capacity for people to grow and change and the body’s innate wisdom to move toward wholeness and balance
  • Non-Violence: Coming from a place of curious compassion and acceptance of what arises
  • Mindfulness & Presence: Being with what arises, in the present moment, with non-judgment, curiosity  and compassion
  • Relational Alchemy: The unique, mysterious, magical, synchronistic connectedness in-between relationship with another being that can be both mirrors of gifts and challenges for areas of healing and growth
  • Unity: Awareness that all things are interconnected and woven in relationship with one another
  • Body/Mind/Spirit Holism: The assumption that the experience of body, mind and spirit are essential parts of wholeness
